The Woodturners Association of Western Australia (WAWA)

The Woodturners Association of Western Australia (WAWA) is a non-profit body incorporated under statute and has a membership in the order of 500 turners.

The Association has conducted workshops in over 30 metropolitan and country centres and as a result there are now 6 metropolitan and 6 groups established in the country, all conducting their own monthly programs.

As a community based organisation, the Association and the groups respond to many requests for demonstrations at Shows, Fairs and Fetes, of members working at their craft – the events at which demonstrations are staged are numerous and diverse but must meet certain basic requirements for safety reasons.

While the formation of the Association has led to the growth of the number of turners, there is ample evidence of improvement in skills and creative talent among members as many members have successfully exhibited at National level.

A trait amongst woodturners is the willingness to share knowledge and experience with others and a keenness to tutor and mentor those new to the craft.

Come and meet the members at the WA WOOD Show –  their participation is significant with a retail area of superb finished pieces  plus an exhibition of the highest quality – Woodturning Excellence plus a busy demonstration area .
